"BAGS adjectives"
"Most French adjectives are placed after the noun phrase, but some descriptive adjectives generally appear before the noun. They can be grouped under the acronym BAGS, for Beauty, Age, Good and Bad, Size."

Beauty - beau/belle, jolie
Age - nouveau/nouvelle, vieux/vieille, jeune
Good and Bad - mauvais(e), bon(ne), gentil(le), grand(e)
Size - gros(se), long(ue), petit(e)      


"Other commonly used adjectives placed before the noun:

first premier/première   only seul(e)   other autre    same même"

"NOTEZ The adjectives beau, nouveau, and vieux have a special form, which is used only before a masculine singular noun: un vieil ami (an old friend), le nouvel an (the new year), un bel home (a handsome man). Also remember to use petit(e) to describe short people. (A low table is une table basse.)"
